Hey there!

I’m Emily and I have 15+ years of experience across content design, user experience, service design, and content strategy. I'm motivated to make products easier to use, safer for our global society, and smarter through responsible AI design and development.

My latest work at Meta has been with trust and safety teams at the intersection of some of our world's toughest problems — moderation, fairness, safety, and wellbeing.

I've been at the cutting edge of solving these issues and have successfully scaled internal design frameworks that impact the daily experience of the ~3.5+ billion users on Meta's family of apps.

I’m based in Nashville, Tennessee, and outside of work, I’m a hobbyist illustrator, knitter, and baker — I challenge you to send me a recipe that tops this chocolate chip cookie.

A note on confidentiality

On this site you’ll find select external work and design strategy projects, however my most substantial work at Meta was on confidential moderation platforms and AI tooling.

Despite being internal tools, these high-stakes platforms and features had important audiences — tens of thousands of content moderators and internal stakeholders tasked with deploying more advanced AI systems — and they required equal care and UX expertise as Meta’s external audience.

I’m unable to share proprietary designs, data, or internal materials, but if you have questions on my experience or problems I’m familiar with solving, please reach out.

“I worked with Emily building LLM development tooling from scratch - tight timelines, rapidly shifting technology, and a lot of ambiguity. Emily was the person who kept things clear. She mapped out a complex tooling landscape spanning multiple components of the AI model lifecycle and drove UX requirements for critical features. But what sets her apart is how far beyond traditional content design she operates. She wrote copy and provided UI/UX feedback, but also meaningfully shaped product direction and strategy - developing a strong understanding of the full AI model lifecycle to ensure our tooling worked for both MLEs and non-technical users.”

“I had the privilege of working with Emily for the past few years on some of the most critical design challenges Meta has faced regarding content moderation in an AI era. What made Emily exceptional to work with isn't just her strong design craft, but her ability to keep complex projects moving forward with clarity and momentum. Emily has a gift for seeing the whole picture. She communicates with precision across teams, anticipates what needs to happen to unblock progress, and has an intuitive sense for when to push forward versus when to reset.”

“Emily is an incredible designer, UX thinker and AI practitioner. She's continually raised the bar on our integrity and safety products, all the while moving fast to ensure we were getting our protections out to customers as quickly as we could. Emily's also a culture leader, bringing a sense of collaboration that fosters innovation. Have learned so much from you!”
